The Poster/Zine Project was a seven-week design challenge where we reflected on our current creative practice and purpose — and introduced ourselevs to the design and creative community. We were asked to explore designer practice frameworks and consider the emerging direction of our own practice. Typography, grid/organizational systems, poster/zine, and on-screen formats provided opportunities for us to create engaging spaces for storytelling across multiple channels
I opted to show two different parallels between the outside of my zine and the inside and combined the two in my poster design. This was to represent the idea of something seeming pretty dull and mundane or something you’d typically see, and then taking the time to look deeper and find the fun things within it, represented by the fun shapes and colors on the inside of the zine. I used the stars between the two universes to add some cohesion and connection between the two.

I wanted to create something that expressed my desire to find and show people the joy in life and create a sense of wonder. I've always loved things that are unnatural or pretty out there, so I thought it would be fun to combine this peaceful environment of stars with a more out-there, neon, abstract experience to combine two completely different concepts and make them work together. Not only did I desire to make a good design, I also wanted to make sure it represented myself and my aesthetic.

Overall, I think the narrative of the cat works well, and works well together with the colors that I chose to highlight the different landscapes and "worlds". These design choices allowed me to expand on the idea of this cat adventuring and seeing new things.
