Serenexus - A Speculative Design Project
Serenexus was a semester-long speculative design project. We were tasked with creating a speculative, future scenario that may exist in our world and an artifact to go along with it. The artifact had to have its own branding identity, and we had to convey the idea of our artifact and our future scenario using graphics and imagery in a showcase exhibition at the end of the semester.
What is Serenexus?
In a near-future world, 25 years from the present, the world is dominated by AI-Driven workplaces, society faces an existential crisis. Workers are pushed to compete with relentless, hyper-efficient machines, balancing creativity, innovation, and emotional intelligence while under constant surveillance. The result is widespread burnout, weakened social relationships, and a blurring line between personal and professional lives. Emotional strain seeps into every aspect of life, isolating individuals and deepening societal divides. As AI continues to outperform human capabilities, those who can keep pace thrive, while others fall behind, triggering a surge in mental health crises, depression, and even suicide. This dystopian scenario is a reflection of the increasingly fragile mental health landscape of the present day.
Introducing Serenexus—a sleek, futuristic necklace crafted from biodegradable metal to combat mental health challenges in an AI-driven world. Serenexus adapts to your body and mind, discreetly regulating emotions and serotonin levels, while emitting soothing particles and adjusting warmth and pressure to maintain calm. With advanced AR visuals and Emotion Mapping Technology, it tracks patterns, identifies triggers, and provides personalized coping strategies. Real-time biometric sensors detect distress, offering passive support to prevent burnout and foster resilience in today’s demanding environment.
