For my Senior Showcase at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, we were tasked with creating multiple projects throughout the semester that related to our personal communities. I created three separate displays for the showcase.
My first display was a message to my own personal community, the people in it, and the things that inspire me. I filled it with poster designs I created, a poster board designed with personalized text and photos, and vinyls. I also created an 80 page book with different designs of mine throughout the years to display.
The second display was a zine called "Pin Perspective" showcasing my interest in pin collecting. I sent out a survey and got about 20 responses, and compiled those responses into a zine showcasing different aspects of the pin-collecting community, using photos they submitted to me. I also made handmade pins.
My third display was for an event I ran called "Panthers At Play", which was a casual gaming event I hosted along with the UWM Games club, designed to create a welcoming and inclusive space for women and LGBTQ+ gamers at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. My goal was to foster a positive, non-toxic environment for those who enjoy video games but don't feel like they fit in to the typical gaming community. I wanted to help build a gaming space where everyone belongs.
