For this project we designed promotional materials (ex. Stickers and t-shirts) to be worn by the Center for 21st Century Studies staff and public of all ages.
The objectives of the project were to be introduced to the process of creating work for a client. It helped us gain a deeper understanding of the principles of typography as well as the constraints of creating work for production. The objective was also to increase civic engagement among young adults in greater Milwaukee through deepening understanding of the why and how of voting as a life-long practice.
I decided to use the thumbs up for my t-shirt design because it felt appropriate for all audiences while also appealing to children. My main idea for this shirt was to reinforce a positive connotation towards voting and to make sure the audience knows voting is a positive thing that should be rewarded, as well as make the concept of voting feel a bit less scary.
For my stickers, I wanted to make neutral designs that once again allowed any sort of audience to wear them, while still making them colorful and appealing, enough to draw your attention. I used fun typefaces to add to the design and give them personality and focused on making sure the design was designed to fit within the sticker shape.
